Hey everybody,

I was wondering if should go with the Koralia nano or Koralia 1 for an Aquapod 24 gallon? The only thing I'm considered about is over whelming the tank with the look of a large pump.

Thanks!

I would go with the Koralia 1's. I have a pair in my 16 gallon bow and they don't overwhelm the tank with their appearance. The nanos wouldn't be strong enough- I have a pair in my 7 gallon mini bow and the flow is just right.

Here is my nanocube (also with the 150 Sunpod).

You can see the 2 Koralia #1's in there on each end, should give you a good idea of what they look like.

I don't mind them, I moved the one on the right just below the output nozzle and it fits in well there.

yeah, i have a #1 ans two nanos in my 24, and it is just the right amount of flow. i have the #1 on the back left halfway down pointed inward, a nano on to back top middle pointed towards the front and another nano on the back middle right pointed down towards the middle of the tank. very random flow.

Just ordered a Koralia Nano last night. Should be just right for my NC6 according to what I've read.

colinadam, there's your blackcap again. Man I want one of them!

For a comparison, here's what they look like in my 7 gallon minibow:

The only problem I've been having is they sometimes don't restart after turning them off during a water change.

Yeah, I thought about cleaning the filter floss to make it look cleaner befoe taking the picture, but those few strands let me know that the powerhead hasn't restarted. They act as a wind sock.

Try plugging them into a powerstrip with filtered circuits like a nice Isobar. If you don't have that, try plugging them into another powerstrip, or by themselves. I had the same problem with my Koralia's. They seem to be very sensitive to interference from other devices on the same cicuit.

Do you guys run your Koralias 24/7?

i run mine 24/7. sure, the current calms at night in the ocean, but it doesnt go away so i dont really see a benefit in turning them off. if anything i would assume that the o2 levels would decrease some and the detritus would have a better chance at findng a place to settle.

I expected the nano k to be stronger. It's okay for now but I might have to run two someday.
