my LFS had it in their tank.......and he even showed me the gunk it pulled out......but you know how those type of skimmers can work.....seems to me that what it'll do will vary from tank to tank

As long as there is a way to remove or clean the air stone it should work.

No offense but that doesn't look that great to me - too watery.

I have the bio cube skimmer and it seems to be working great!!! I empty it every 2 days and it pulls about 1/2 of that so im sure after three days it would pull close to the same.I dont have anything in my tank ,its cycling. So we'll see what happens when i get some live things in there.I'm sure that one is much better but for the price the bio cube skimmer seems like a steal! But then again i've only had it for a week and a half and i only have 2 weeks experiance with reef tanks

I have the oceanic and I am happy with it.. I think it is working better then the one in my Red Sea Max..

Yeah I kind of second that about the skimmate. For a good skimmer going for three days, that sould be 2x in volume and black. I don't think you're making a very good case for that skimmer. Are you dry or wet skimming?

I am adding this skimmer right now to my 14 gallon cube. It looks as if the filter cartridge has to be totally removed and left out in order to use this skimmer. Is that right?

Thanks,

I wet skim w/ my Tunze and it comes out that color. I feel that it keeps the skimmer neck cleaner so it will skim better, longer, between cleans. I've heard wet skimming is better all around.
