I am working on a 180 reef (72x24x24) - I have 3 250w 14k pendants hanging. I plan on putting in some led moonlights but I was wondering if I should suppliment the MH in any way?

The tank will hold a mix of corals and I would like to attempt some clams.

My hood space is limited so a 72" fixture is not possible. I have read many threads and looked at some lighting cycles of larger tanks. It seems like its popular to add in PC or VHO during the morning or evening times.

I am new to using MH fixtures and would like some input on if the trend is moving towards multiple fixtures (a mix of pc/vho/mh) or if my current 250w mh pendants would be enough.

I am just starting this setup and would like to do it right the first time.

Thanks for you time

well frmo what i under stand the supplementaL lighting is more for giving the corals color. So basically interms of growth, 3 250s should be enough for anything you would want to keep.

if the color isnt enough for you, you can either get a bluer bulb (20K but you will lose light intensity) or get a retrofit t5 or PC atinic kit.
