best way to use kent turbo calcium?

I was wondering what's the best way to dose these pellets?
It sounds like you can just add it directly to the sump but I am not sure if that's a good idea.

I need to raise 80 gallons of water about 80-100PPM

I dissolve such supplements in RO-DI water before dosing. That avoids having a solid particle land on an animal, and perhaps causing trouble.
