Refugium Time

I've had my refugium running for about 3 weeks, but my algae keeps growing like crazy. Dose it need more time?

What do you mean by more time? With the proper light and nutrients it grows like crazy. After you get better control of nitrates and the nutrients it feeds on it will slow

I suppose someone had suggested that if he started a fuge it would absorb the nutrients that were allowing algae to grow in the display. It will take time for that to happen, but it will. The former president of the Delaware reef club is fighting off an algal bloom in this manner.

Just continue to let the algae in the fuge grow. Try manual removal if possible in the display as much as possible. And try to looking into where the nutrients are coming from. Is your food high in phosphate? Are you feeding too much? Are you skimming enough?
