Hope you enjoyed them. I took them pretty quickly so I didn't pull out the tripod. Shot them at a higher ISO to compensate for it. I think they came out OK. Next time I'll stop being lazy and take out the tripod.

pretty amazing, even without the tripod. The ricordia are beautiful. Don't think I've heard of a pink lemonade chalice but the blues are nice. Can you get a pic of the entire thing? Nice shots!

What lens did you shoot with?
and what ISO exactly? I don't see any noise, and it seems I get more noise than that with my D300 at higher ISO.

WOW!!! Thanks for the compliments everyone. I'm glad you all like them.

cfarrow2 - I don't have a shot of entire frag, but I'll try and get one for you.

calkrog - No post editing, just a bit of cropping and resizing.

eshook - 1, 2, and 5 were shot trough the tank. 3, and for were shot using a specimen container. i call it the poor mans top down box. :)

GlobalEvan - I'm using a Sigma 105mm 2.8 lens. I couldn't afford the Nikon version w/ VR. :( It's a great lens though. if I'm not mistaken. All of them were shot at an iso of 640/800. Not that high, but I usually try to keep it below 200.

Nice shots...I'm shooting a D70 with a Sigma 70-300mm APO Super Macro II f4-5.6 for macro shots. Up till now I've been mostly shooting portraits, landscapes, and other things like cars, watches, etc. Just starting a new 180g inwall reef tank, and man getting decent underwater shots is a whole new ball game!! :lol:

I love photography but I'm only an amateur hobbyist and got lots to learn. Your pics inspired me to try and get some underwater shots and man was it sad. The best I could get at the moment was the only thing not moving (a Margarita snail) and one of a Xenia. My attempts at shooting the fish aren't even worth showing at this stage.:lol:

If you don't mind helping out a fellow enthusiast, any pointers/tips you can offer to start? Are you stopping down to 2.8 on your lens, and at what speed are you able to shoot at? Are you using auto white balance, etc? With my 300mm lens I can only stop down to 5.6 in macro mode, and shooting anything moving is next to impossible. I noticed its difficult to get clear sharpness by hand using my current glass, and finding it tricky with setting exposures/white balance with the strong MH/Actinic lighting.

Don't mean to hijack your thread but just wanted to share some of my first attempts at aquarium photography, with a couple of my favorite landscape shots from better days. :)
