View Full Version : Love the shape; need ID
Supposedly not A. echinata; it's been suggested as A. awi. Any thoughts?

i agree that its' not echinata, maybe jacqueliniea? sic?
I don't think it's a jacquelineae. The tips aren't as round as that species (I could be totally off here). Also, the mother colony where it came from, it had a very distinct bottlebrush shape; wish I had taken a picture of the mother colony. A. jacquelineae has more tabling growth no?

i don't think jacquelineae has corallites that look like that, but you are right about the growth form. it is likely in the echinata group; a size comparison with another well known acro would help.
Same size as A. echinata (have both the ATL echinata and icefire to compare to and it's that size). Not sure if that helps at all. It's not thick like the other deepwater.
