I had one marineland bio wheel (minus the bio-wheel) and an aqua-clear filter converted into a refugeum. Worked wonders until I upgraded to an Aqupod.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck and Happy Holidays.

When I had mine up I just had an aqauclear 50 on the back running empty for flow and live rock for filtration.

My refugeum had chaeto and rubble in it. There exists a forum that explains the conversion process.

I'd put an AquacClear 110 on the back. I have one on my 7 gallon minibow. Adds almost a gallon of water volume and some serious circulation.
