Cooling ??

Two 175w mh over a 55 in a canopy, will fans be enough or am I gonna need a chiller?? I dont want to run a chiller and would rather go with T5's if I cant get by with just fans.

Is your canopy open in the back or does it have active cooling currently? Do you have a sump? How close will the MH's be to the water? Is the 55 currently running, if so what is the lighting and current temp?

Im currently using the 55 as a african cichlid tank with floresent lighting but im planning on moving my 29 over in the next week or two. Yes the back is open and the canopy is 10" high with no cooling yet and the top is not open. I do have a 20 gallon sump/fuge i'll be using from my other setup. The back of the stand is also open so i'll be using a fan(s) on the sump also.

You can put some fans blowing into the sump and also on the back of the main tank blowing onto the surface of the water. check out the fans on foster smith website.

Thanks alot for the info. Is anyone running a 55 or simalar with dual 175w in a canopy without a chiller???
