My clam (Tear Drop Maxima) lost it's foot (It was moved while attached)
It seems to be doing fine.

Just wondering what the survival rate is, and at what time it's in the "safe zone".

It's been about 3.5 weeks now and it still opens up and looks normal, but from what I have heard they can go south VERY fast.

I already have a blue coreacia in the tank that's been in my tank for about a year now and it's doing VERY well. It's grown about 1/2 inch in the year I've had it.

Tank Prams...
Alk is set dead on 9.0 with a doser so it never goes up or down much at ALL.
CA is dosed every other day and it's usually right at 400-440
Mg is usually at 1400

So am I safe yet with a foot loss on my Tear Drop or will it take months before I'm sure it will be ok?

I have a wild caught and a captive bred. The wildcaught dropped its food and is doing just fine.

Make your clam is getting a nice blast of light with med/low flow and it should do just fine.

Yeah it's right next to the one I've had for a year.
They get 14 hrs of MH a day

you're not out of the woods yet but if it shows signs of growth over the next few weeks you should be O.K.

if it just dropped its byssal threads then it should be fine. if it discarded the byssal gland or if the gland was pulled out then it could go either way.

if its been 3 1/2 weeks i think it will be fine

the byssal thread will regrow as long as the gland wasn't pulled out with the threads. You're probably in the clear now.

One time my clam dropped it's byssal threads and it looked exactly like the clams foot. I was freaking about the fact that it might die and there was nothing that I could do about it. Then it started poking his foot out again to attach to the rock again, talk about a major relief.
