Do very large hippo tangs tend to have hole in head, well more like hole in face. He's the only tang that has it. I was windering if it was heriditary. I have Achellies, Blonde Naso also. No issues. I would say the Hippo is stocky in size, didnt want to say obese:rolleyes:

He is very healthy IMO other than that. He'll swim around with rocks in his mouth all day. And eats everything I put in there. Strange.

Feed seaweed everyday with this fish. I feed my tangs a peice of seaweed select a day. Sometimes twice a day. In the wild these fish graze all day on algae.

I have a hippo with head and lateral line erosion (HLLE)

Was it ever treated with any medication?

I think my hippo got it from being treated with copper.

It's $1.50 for 10 sheets of the same stuff at the grocery store. Check the asian section, most places should have it.

pmolan,
I have seen this before in this species. believe it or not the spots or holes can be attrubute to stray current or voltage traces in the system water. The fish can die from this issue. I would recommend grounding your system water to your house ground. You can pick them up for around $10 at a LFS. And keep feeding him lots of greens. I hope this helps.
