Considering a dedicated clam tank hooked to my main system. Just wondering...

it doesnt really matter. it depends more on lighting and distance from the light.

having a substrate might create more fauna but in reality most of that fauna is going to remain in the substrate and a large percentage of the fauna will be too large for the clam to filter/eat.

I plan to run either a 250w or a 400w over the tank. Everything is still in the works. I have run SPS successfully, but never tried clams. So I wanted to try a dedicated clam tank. I am guessing the tank will be in the neighborhood of 40g. I have (3) 20g tanks sitting empy, but not too sure if I want three tanks instead of just one.

I have before, and plan to again, grow phyto and rotifers. Obviously I will check into what I need in the way of food. Thanks for your feedback on the substrate.
