I am looking for a good sit on top of tank type lighting fixture that I can use for most corals. Would the current nova extreme pro lighting 6x39 fixture, would be a pick for a 46 gal bow? I would not want to upgrade, so I would like something I could use for most corals. Thanks for the help!

Can anyone please let me no if this is a good fixture or if not guide me into the right direction towards a decent one? Thanks!

I've read some reviews on it and it is a good light. It doesn't have the best reflectors out there (doesn't cost as much as they do either), better than one large parabolic reflector though.

Here's a good one.

If you get a t-5 strip then you want to be sure its got individuel reflectors for each bulb. Something i wish somebody mentioned to me before my nove t-5 purchase.

They say they are individual reflectors. They only want around $300,so I hope it not to good to be true!

Sounds like a great light and will support many if not all coral.

It only has one reflector but it is contoured to the bulbs. It doesn't wrap the bulbs as well as true individual reflectors, but it is still a great deal for the money.IMO

They are not individual reflectors.

They're ok lights. Should be able for some SPS and clams if in the upper half of the tank.

It say individual contoured reflectors. I thought that meant that they were truly individual. Hmmm, very tricky discription, had me fooled. I thought like demonsp stated I could use them for all most any coral.Am I wrong?

There are a lot of people that have kept most corals under the nova extremes with no problem, and these are definitely a step up. In your 46 I don't think there will be any problems.

Yea, you should have no problem.

Just don't have higher light specimens in the lower portion of your tank...just for assurance. ;)

I have had 2 current fixture one compact and now the T5 HO, Im pretty happy with the current brand and yet had any problems with both of them. The one thing I could recommend and this Is a lesson learned for myself aswell. If your not taking the retrofit route Its a pretty tight fit with a complete fixture, meaning If you have a canopy the exuast fan Is pretty close to the canopy Itself this leading alot of built up hot air not to be exuasting out of the fixture all the way. So either having to cut another hole out the side of the canopy or add some additional fans up In the canopy blowing on the fixture Itself. If not the fixture gets super HOT, all In all they make good fixtures.:)

when I had my 46 gal. up and running i used the 4-39 watt icecap retro from reef geek. you can get them with icecap reflectors, your choice of bulbs, and either with a triad ballast (289.00) or with an icecap ballast (359.00). I had the icecap ballast and you can keep any type of coral you want anywhere in the tank.

Great post kau cinta ku.

I'd go the ice cap ballast route. Beautiful colors you can't imagine.

kau-cinta-ku, The reef geek hands his hands on one of this fixtures. He is going to take a look at it after the holidays. I am waiting for his opinion on it.I really hope they came up with a good fixture at a good price.Around $300 for a 6x39.Keeping my fingers crossed!
