View Full Version : 180 fish load- how much is too much?

currently I have the following in my 180 gallon reef:

1- Harlequin tuskfish
1- copperband butterfly
5- green reef chromis
1- foxface
1- yellow tang

is this overstocked?

the tank looks great- no algea or anything nusaince growing

Sounds like you have plenty of room, post some pictures! How does the tuskfish do in there? do you have any inverts? are the chromis safe?

Your bioload will depend on your filtration, feeding habits, kinds of corals you're growing, and tolerance for nuissance algae.

That list could be too much or not nearly enough, but without seeing the condition of various organisms or even knowing your filtration, I wouldnt pass judgement.

In my 90g I have:
10 threadfin cardinals
2 large blue/green chromis
1 dispar anthias
1 lineatus wrasse
1 laboutei's wrasse
1 medium purple tang

I feed 6 cubes a day to them, and my SPS and LPS are thriving, but I run filter socks, GFO, and an ATI BM250 skimmer, a long with lots of W/Cs.....

stocking is a balance between the input and the output, nothing more.
