you should add a few of these to your gallery

nanO352

Which ones do you think are good enough to go in the gallery?

The clam doesn't look happy in that picture and 99% of people would say they have no chance of survival under the stock lighting. Plus you have a fish (Flame Angel) that is notorious for picking on clam mantles.

Other than that looks o.k.

I know what you mean about the clam and that same week I brought him back to the pet store.

If a pictures is good enough to post in a forum its good enough to go in your gallery, but dont look at mine for an example.... I don't have my gallery set up yet.

I will keep that in mind next time I add some pics. I'm about 1 to two weeks from getting my new metal halide light. What are some easyier sps corals? Are acro,& monti's good starter choices?

My tank has seen hell the last few weeks. I lost all my xenia and now some rouge animal has chopped my feather duster in half. I will have pics on later.

Does anyone have any ideas about the HYdro Korolina pumps? Are they that good or is there a better choice of pumps.

Because your tank sucks....

just kidding :)

I have a 24g nanocube and at one time had a similar stock list (Neon goby, Clown, Flame Angel & YWG). Loved the Flame but it died for some unknown reason after a month. Never had a clown goby, their reputation for laying eggs on SPS corals was enough to make me rethink them.

Nice looking monti cap, I have a purple one and a green with blue polyp one, nice corals that grow very fast.

What are your future plans for this tank? More SPS?

nanO352
01/10/2008, 05:17 PM
Yeah a lot more Sps. A little bit more of every thing. My tank might suck but at least I dont have a tank like Fish.Nemo!

That tanks looks good, but probably not for too long unless your a violent water changer.

You have a tad too much livestock especially the tang, the hippo should be fine in there until 3 or 4 inches when he will need to be upgraded also herbivores are very messy they eat and poop a lot ( due to the low nutritional levels in algae) That will add a lot of nutrients to the tank. The clown goby is fine, the clownfish or the flame should go too if you want to keep the SPS healthly, from that I say you have a nice tank, but it is overstocked with fish. Also keep on eye on that umbrella mushroom they shrimp and other inverts. They will lay out and wait once the invert walks over the tissue the mushroom will close up fast and look like a ball, but inside its stinging tissue is killing the invert and swallowing it in its mouth. My umbrella tried to eat my cleaner and still does, but my cleaner is smart and takes three steps on it and backs off and when the mushroom is in a ball shape the shrimp eats the food laying under it, I don't know if your shrimp will adapt like mine.

Tank looks very good, especially with the new light. I'll be upgrading my 14g biocube lighting soon to HQI.

Hopefully you have plan soon for the Blue Hippo tang as he will need a bigger tank very soon. :D

Good job!

Been a friggin long time since I updated my progression thread. So I guess I should recap some events. I have lost all of my shrimp to a rouge animal, its still on the run... I plan to replace the shrimp with sexy's and another cleaner. The clown goby needs to go because it's eating my sps. The montipora started to bleach in a matter of 10 hours. I got it back on track; looks really good now. When my xenia died the few anthelia died with it but, they never completely disapeared. After about 3 weeks it grew back at an unbelieveable rate. It has taken over a 2x2 tablet in no time at all. After all of the bad stuff I can give everyone the run down on new additions.
The 2nd acro. A tri-color valida right from the ORA farm.
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l121/miles2_2006/aquarium133.jpg
And a Favia. It was growing really well but, it's tissue started receeding and the skeleton started showing... But after a quick water change it started to puff back up.

Hello?

Fishy Business
02/18/2008, 09:26 PM
Nice corals!
Xenia dying is probably a bad sign (IMO) most like "dirty water".
How many fish do you have in the tank?
Do you dose with supplements?
What are your levels?

nanO352
02/18/2008, 09:53 PM
Thanks Fishy Buisness. It's funny thats your screen name. There is an LFS that is called Fisy Buisness. The xenia died a while ago. I had a bad cold front and the tank got to 55 degrees for 2 days. I am way to overstockcd 5 fish. Once I can catch the clown goby I will bring it back to the lfs even though it would make a big difference. I do dose with kent A and B. I didnt dose for a week and all my hardys startd to bleach. All levels are perfect except nitrates at 10. And phosphates are a little high last time I checked.

It would be nice if a ''quick water change'' can always fix the problems your tanks have.

Hey what part of florida you live, Is it the Fishy Buisness in Longwood you were talking about. I go there all the time. It's like an 1 hour from my house.

Yeah its in Longwood. They have a great selection of stuff. I have been going to Ocean Direct lately though. I'm still not sure about the FAvia its still acting up. I dont think the water change did much to it at all. I do water changes on a bi-weekly shecdule too. I guess ill have to wait it out. Im still befuddled on its behavior.

How are your other SPS doing? What is their polyp extension like?

Moonstream
03/23/2008, 02:50 PM
an acro.

I wouldnt even bother returning the clown goby, that wont make the bioload any better. if you want a smaller bioload then I would return the tang, which adds a very large bioload to you tank.

if you have questions you needs answers to quick it usually gets answered quicker if you start a new thread IME.

nanO352
03/23/2008, 03:52 PM
I know about the tang. Its gonna be returned very very soon. Imho I should have never gotten the tang.Because I knew It couldnt be in the tank forever it would just add bioload for the few months it was in the tank too. And the clown goby died in the pump when it got caught in there 2 days before I was gonna return it. I was gonna return it because it was eating my SPS and inturn killing them.
