i would like a show fish to go in my 125g w/ a zebra eel. i would also like to have shrimp (skunk, fire, peppermint) in there as well. which would you reccommend? i know triggers are prone to eating shrimp, but from what i have read, if i add the shrimp first, it might not be a problem. is this right or has anyone had problems? i really like both of these fish, but i can only have 1, unfortunately. do you think i can get away with having a few more smaller fish? or would i be overstocked already? i want to add at the least a clownfish or 2. anyone with pics of their majestic or blue jaw are more than welcome to throw them up! i would love to see them!

I vote for the majestic. Don't know why I just like their colors.
Also the trigger and shrimp will be a gamble, and just don't be shocked if it's gone one morning. I have had a porc puffer and cleaner shrimp for over a year now. So it's up to the fish you get.

I think the trigger will fit better in a 125g then a majestic would. I know majestics don't get as big as some of the other angels, but blue throats seem to be smaller full grown and they don't swim as much. My male blue throat didn't do much swimming, but every angel I've ever owned (never had a majestic, just not my thing) always covered every millimeter of the tank. I've heard if you have a pair of blue throats though, they will be more active. Again depends on the fish, just like the shrimp situation. Good luck, let us know what you decided.

how much should i feed these guys? what can i get at the grocery store that would work? i don't like seafood, so i never go in that section, not really sure what's there. i really do like the trigger, i love watching them swim. i guess the shrimp aren't that important, they just look cool, and i like peppermints for keeping the aptaisia at bay. the more i read on the majestic, it says they are quite shy, not good, i don't want a shy fish. i want one that's out where i can see it. i ran into the shy problem with my old tomini tang, cool fish, never saw it out and about.
Am i the only one who thinks that you can keep both ?
Blue throats are amongst the mellowest triggers, but they tend to be skittish (not what you want for a centerpiece).

You can keep both, but he's looking for a show fish, which is one fish, as a centerpiece. Also, I wouldn't keep both in a 125g either, that's the main problem. As far as feeding, both will except most foods, the trigger will more likely be eating clams, shrimp etc while the angel will eat clam and shrimp, but also take algae (nori ) etc.

i want one show fish, but there's enough room that i can have some smaller fish to "fill in the gaps". i also read that the trigger will get more tame as it gets older, not more aggressive. exactly what i'm looking for. with time he should recognize me as a good source of food. i think i will go with the trigger. i really do love watching them swim :)

The majestic is not a fast swimmer like a tang or something....I have had a couple of them and a 125 gallon is fine for them. Lesley
