I hear that they work really well, but causes prolems with ALK and PH? Any other problems??? Can these be overcome by using a calcium reactor?

They also are tricky to use. I have one its now sitting in a closet gone to waste. The sulphur beads in mine disolved some how turning my tank water yellow at times. I think it killed majority of my tank. I will never use one again.

Instead try the other kind without sulphur beads.

I used one on my 220 loaded with fish. Bought my nitrates down from over 100 to about low 20's. No problems yet but its only been 6 mths.

They can work, but all the denitrators can be touchy, and have been known to wipe out tanks. The drip rate needs to be watch very carefully. That said, some people are successful with them.

I've been running one over a year and it has done an excellent job at keeping my nitrates down at 0. I do not run a skimmer and have not seen any ill effects from the denitrator. I run a Co2 reactor and Kalk reactor to keep CA and PH up but I'm not sure they would be required when using the denitrator.

I use a dinitrator from Korallin and it works well lowering the nitrates in my tank. I turned it off after the nitrates were down substantially and it turned out to be a little more work finetuning the drip rate fater a while. Nevertheless, after buying new valves, it seems to work again. I turned it back on recently after nitrates went up. I have a pretty high bioload.
