How big and old is she?

TheSaltwaterGuy
12/25/2007, 08:34 PM
Thanks guys! She's about 8" long and 2 months, 2 weeks old to the day. And the Eel is 13-14" long and my guess would be somewhere around 8-9 months old. Got him about 6 months ago when he was 6" long.

She looks bigger than my shark, and mine is approaching 4 monthes. She is about 8 inches too but still has really black bands, your shark's bands are turning brown already.

Really? How often do you feed yours?

So, I've been fiddling with the camera for a while and have found that it takes fantastic close up shots!

Take a look:

I feed mine every other day. She is very fat and healthy, I personally don't mind her small size, I'd be more than okay with an 8 inch shark.

Her growing= lots of money put into a 500 gallon pond :D

I really don't care how fast Farrah grows. Her pond should be built before she reaches 16" anyways. Its funny because I feed her every other day as well. Hmm, amazing how different two of the exact same animals can be, huh?

What all do you feed yours?

I feed Bambi Prosalt krill and PE mysis. The other day I caught her with Nemo in her mouth though. Luckily she decided Nemo wasn't that tasty and spit her out. Nemo is ok now.

[B]I really don't care how fast Farrah grows. Her pond should be built before she reaches 16" anyways. I hope you will be putting it in a bigger tank than 75 gals before then as a 10 inch shark is to big for that tank.If you lived near me I would give you a spare 125 I have for her.

Well, just go on and ship me that tank! Whenever the pond is built is whenever the shark will go in. That's all I'm gonna tell you because for some reason, you wait for my posts about my "bad keeping" of sharks and you give me hell about it.

Not really sure. She's just always out day or night. From the day I got her she has been very active and very "out-in-the-open" 24/7.

o alright i have alot of rock its a reef tank so yeah. she is a cute shark, how do you identify the sex?
my sharks bands are alot whiter, must be alot younger.

FishyMel
12/28/2007, 12:01 PM
The black bands fade as the shark ages, You identify the sex by look between the pelvic fins for claspers. Males have them, females don't. http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/education/questions/claspers.jpg

TheSaltwaterGuy
12/28/2007, 12:24 PM
Yep, thats how you identify! Is yours a female or a male, Juggler?

TheSaltwaterGuy
12/28/2007, 04:02 PM
Juggler, you said your shark must be a lot younger. Probably is if the bands are whiter. How big is she?

Juggler
12/28/2007, 05:26 PM
then mine is a girl for sure. thanks for the lesson!

and i hatched it from an egg, it hatched November 27th on my birthday. that was cool.

do males or females get larger?

TheSaltwaterGuy
12/28/2007, 05:30 PM
That might explain why your's bands are whiter, mine was born on October 11, 2007.

I think females get a tad bit larger than males.
