Yup; place I used to work would get them once in a while. And its not a piranha at all.. lol...

Says it might be a tigerfish.

Definatly not a piranha. Just look at the body shape; ever seen a piranha without a circular-ish body? And absolutly NOT the red-bellied's you see in the fish stores.

Sorry to be a party-pooper.

So what is it and what country did catch in? It's still freaking me out!!!!!!!!!!!!I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!!OMG!!!!!!!!!!

Hormigaquatica

Its a type of tigerfish (looks like Hydrocynus goliath). Could have been caught in the Congo Basin, maybe Lake Tanganyika. You get Tigerfish throughout north and central africa.

Fun fact- its basically a tetra. Think about that the next time youre staring at those cute little Neons in your freshwater tank... lol

Man oh man, that thing creeps me out just looking at it. Heck, It could be like a garage disposal. Just dont our arm down to far when rinseing off the plates. :-)

Yeah, looks like either an African Tigerfish or a Goliath Tigerfish. A LFS I used to work at had an African Tigerfish for sale. It was probably around 3-4" but still would go after your hand. Guess what....I had to clean the friggin' tank.

I fish out of my kayak and would freak if I saw that. Worse than a
shark!

Something that big would probably pull you around for a little bit.

oysterxfast5

If it is real I want nothing to do with it. I still think it would rip your arm off, or atleast that the hand.

K' Family Reef

Just leave it with some rocks. Might be ok.

That guy's not photoshopped, but it's about as big as the tigerfish get. Most of the ones you see caught are between one and two feet long. The one in the pic looks like he's maybe four feet long?

Cheers,
