I need advice on lighting for SPS.

I prefer to stay with flouresent / power compact, is that ok for SPS? And what would be the best affordable option for a multi bulb hood with multi power cords for the actinics?

I have been running FOWL,s and FO for a few years but this is my first reef so I have never had to worry so much about lighting, I am ignorant on the subject.

Thanks in advance.

The tank is 55 gallons, about 100 pounds of LR and 50 pounds of LS. I put alot of rock in so when I get my corals I will have alot of placement opportunities when it comes to how much light they get.

T5 are the way to go. Pick your colors and make sure you get single bulb reflectors.
