55 to 110 upgrade question

I got a 110g tank for christmas and it I just finished the plumbing and filled it with fresh water for a leak test. NO Leaks!! It does have some sand in the bottom of the tank. Now here is the all important question. Can I drain the FW back out and fill with SW and move the live sand and rock of my established 55g over to the 110 with out it having to cycle?

its going to cycle some anyway so i would sugget you start with new argonite--and use a cupful of sand from the other tank to seed it with bacteria.
The live rock should be ok if it is a direct move from one tank right into the other.
I'd keep the other running for a spare, frag tank or whatever--I kept a 30 gal going and have used it alot for various reasons.

Other tank has to come down. I'm remolding the house and adding an addition. I just don't want to kill eveything if I move it over to the 110 but I have to do something as the 55 can't stay where its at.

It would be best to keep both runnin if at all possible. Is there anywhere in the house you could move the old tank to? If the 55 is just too big to keep you could use a rubbermaid tote or trashcan as a holding tank for the time being.

I upgraded from a 65g to a 125g for christmas I just setup the salt water and seeded the sand with sand from the old tank. Then after about a week transferred all of my liverock and corals and replaced as much of the water in the 125 with water from the old tank as possible. Its been a few weeks and everything is doing great only one minor algae. good luck with your move.
