As the subject line says, I'm considering Koralias for water flow in a 29 gal. mixed reef. Any suggestions as to what size[s] and how many? The rock work is quite open, and spans the length of the tank less 1"-2", leaves about 3"-4" between the glass and closest points of rock, and rises to within 6"-7" of the water surface. Substrate is the Home Depot beach sand from a few years back.

Thanks!

2 #3's should do the trick, one on each end. Maybe 3 #2's but this may be to much depending on how you angle them to avoid a sandstorm.

I would have thought #3s were too much for a 29, but then I'm not as familiar with these units as with the old PHs. Higher flow doesn't mean the same since it's not focused and directed as with a PH I'm thinking, right?

When I had my 29 going, I had 2 Koralia 2's in the top corners, and 2 Maxijet 1200's on the bottom (BB tank) plus the return from the mag 5.

Worked well for me.

I would agree that #3s are too much flow for a mixed 29. 2-#2s would be more than adequate. I'm using a single #3 along with a MJ1200 with Hydor Flow attachment on my predominately SPS 75 and it works great!! I'm considering modding the MJ1200 though.

Thanks everyone. I'm going with 2 #2's and see how it goes. [No corals in the tank yet]

Happy New Year!
