hey all, i am looking to make a couple DIY frag holders, but I have no idea what to use. I know I have seen some threads where people coat magnets in epoxy and are good to go, but I don't know what epoxy to use, how to mold it, or what magnets to get. can I buy all necessary parts at lowes or home depot?

any help would be great

Find magnets with 50+ pull force.

Find casting resin at the local craft store.

Mold in anything such as plastic dixi cups.

Pretty much what he said.

I saw a tut awhile ago.
First you mix the resins (if it's a two part resin only). Then pour a bit of it in a container of the shape you want it to be and let it dry for a couple minutes, then put the magnet on top of it. Then you pour the rest until you completely cover the magnet and let it dry. It's a simple as that!
The hardest part is customizing it to fit your powerhead, heater, etc... The one he made in the tut was a bit thicker and he drilled and tapered the corners and attached his PH with plastic screws. If necessary you could always make a mold out of plaster of paris (Home Depot or craft store), wait until the resin drys and break the mold off. This might take a bit of practice before it comes out right.

Hope this helps. Please post some updates if you decide to go ahead with the project.

That's a interesting mod impur. What does it do? I don't get how water gets in through the back if it's blocked?

we used ice cube trays...of course, i use ice cube trays for everything--buy them 4 for $1 at goodwill, and just chuck em when you're done.

Its just a swivel magnet mount for my MJmods. Water is pulled in thru the holes in the shroud. This makes it so i can position the pump anyway i please

These sized accordingly (I've used the smallest, but not sure how they'll hold once the colones get huge):
