I am in the process of making a sump and i have an external overflow box thatis rated for 600 GPH and for my return pump i have about 3' of head. Any suggestions on what return pump i should use??

If your going to use an internal pump, I think the mag 7 would be a pretty good choice.

My overflow has the same approximate rating and I have roughly the same head losses to deal with (estimate based on height and plumbing configuration). I use a Mag 9.5 and it seems to be sized just right for that scenario. Personally, I think you would be missing out on some additional flow by using a Mag 7, but that's just my opinion. It would certainly work, but you could get more flow and still not "out run" your overflow with a 9.5.

you could go with the bigger mag drive and put a ball valve on there so you can throttle it back a bit if you need.
