Hello everyone,

Names Rich

I have gotten back from Iraq, and have started stocking my SpS tank.

Tank Specs
58 Gal Oceanic with low led glass
MH 250 W 15K XM
PC all blue
UR 180 skimmer
1/4 HP chiller
Mag 9.5 return
cal Reactor
phos Reactor
2 Koralia Hydor 3's

Question is...

I want to get the most color out of my stuff. I have put
a few Bucks in coral in and want to keep the color they
have and help them as best i can. The tank has been
running about 6 mos, water is great, all Zeros...woot..Cal
and Alk are right. so.....

What do yall does with, as far as trace stuff...Please let
me know, as i think i got everything else right.

Now don't get me wrong, i have not lost color but know
I can do more. The only thing im putting in my tank right
now is flake, baby brine, and reefchili. The Reactor has ARM Aragonite media.

So if you got great color and what to share how, Plz share here.

Thank you guys for any help.
Rich

Welcome home..

looks like you have all the right gear, i would say stop feeding flake, that can be a source of phosphates and phosphates can be a reason for less then desierable color. other then that this is a pretty hard topic to provide an answer for with out getting a dozen differnt opinions.

one of the most common answers as far as dosing is concerend is that sps need fish poo and thats it. there are a million products out there and a million supporters for each product the no one will dispute that what ever method or system you choose stability is the most important factor. corals tend to brown out under stress so as long as you can keep things stable and stress free with all the usual paramaters in the general range then all should be good.

im starting to find that if i can keep my most sensative coral happy then all the rest do very well..

if you like blue/purple in your corals then try tropic marin A and K element.

Rich, first off Thank You for serving/protecting our country.

Everything look good. I would say feed your fish couple times a day and you will not need to add anything as for traces. Do 10% weekly water changes with ro/di water of zero TDS and that will help also. The 15K bulb has very poor reviews. I would def look at changing that out with a bulb that has decent par and color on the ballast you are running. Bulb color alone can play a very big role on sps appearance.
