Where do you put filter socks ?

I have them on my skimmer and tank return. Is this acceptable or over kill ?

Depends. Is your skimmer sitting in your sump? Did the water that the skimmer is receiving already pass through the tank return (you mean overflow, right) filter sock? If so, then its redundant (and overkill IMO) unless you're keeping it on your skimmer for microbubble reduction. In that case its reasonable. If the skimmer sits external and receives water straight from the tank, then its understandable to have 2. JMO.

I have mine on my return And also skimmer. Mainly on the skimmer for the microbubbles

great thanks for the info ... Yes all water that comes into sump is filtered before it gets to the skimmer pump .
