I am interested in purchasing a clam, not sure what kind yet, but can anyone tell me anything about them? Are they difficult? Thanks

Providing you have good water quality and high light intensity they are pretty easy to keep. Place in a high light, low flow area.

Tridacna: brilliant color in the good light, no coral compares with it.
Drawbacks:
- it grow big and reasonably fast;
- if the turf algae takes a hold on the shell, removing it is almost impossible, IMHE; (NO3, PO4 = 0)
- they don't want be where you like them to be. Mine orients itself across the flow, for a some reason;
- watch for bristle worms, if clam starts decline - protect it;
- they cough, if the particles of fine food are in the water. May drop itself from the perch, repeatedly.
In peaceful environment - real beauties.
