I finally picked up a SERIPC9 Ground Isolating Serial Connector to use with my AquaController Jr.

Background:
Without the SERIPC9 and just the serial cable run to the computer, I get a pH reading of 11.4 - not correct. With nothing plugged in - ACJr run standalone - my pH is correct. Either way, the software has a connection.

Problem:
When I added the SERIPC9, there is no response from the Aquacontroller in the software. The pH does show correct on the ACJr module.

Any suggestions?

The isolator is likely not working because it is not receive power from the serial port. This can be caused by a couple of reasons:

- Using an AquaController serial cable or a serial extension without all the required connections. See http://www.neptunesys.com/hardwareFAQ.htm#CABLE .

- Some serial ports are not RS232 compliant, and do not supply the appropriate voltages on the serial control lines. This problem is usually found in some very inexpensive USB to serial converters. I personally us an iogear.com USB to serial adapter on my laptop and it works fine.

I purchased a standalone serial card for the computer - no conversion to USB. It is not connecting to anything but the cable to the controller and the serial card of the computer - no extensions. Both the SERIPC9 and the cable were purchased as a AquaController part specificly for the controller.
