Hey guys we just got a pondmaster 500 pump and were wondering is this okay to use as a return pump it says can be used for aquariums..... whats your guys imput, it looks exactly the same as the mag-drive 5, so you think this pond master is salt water aquarium safe

I am pretty sure they are the same pump besides the longer cord.

You might want to look into those screws which secure the impeller housing. I seem to recall that on the pumps not designed for saltwater on the Mag pumps, those screws would rust when used in our tanks. It may not be an issue right away, but you may want to contact the manufacturer and make sure. Worst case, they send you out some saltwater safe screws and you make the swap. HTH.

I second this...

I have two mag7s......the pond version has the longer cord and the aquarium shorter......
