I have a yellow tang that has a little fungus on one fin. I was wondering if anyone has used Paraguard in a reef system? There are a few snails and hermit crabs, a couple of sally light foot crabs and some polyps. If not paraguard what could I use? I dont want to have to tare the tank apart to catch him.

Paraguard is basically malachite green. Very effective for fungal infections.

That said, most owners of reef tanks do not treat the whole tank for this type of problem.

I know you've heard this before, but quarantine is the best method.

Other good fungal medications are Furan-2, Furanase, Maracyn Plus, Pimafix and Melafix.

They all say they are for saltwater but stop short of saying reef-safe.

Good luck. :)

I wouldn't use any medication in a reef tank. Hopefully, the animal will recover on its own.

Thank You I guess I will have to let it go away on its own it will not be possible to catch him. If it gets worse then I will figure something out.
