I noticed this growth this evening. I took a lights on pic and a lights off pic. Any ideas? It appears sponge like.

SPonge, just use tweezers to rip them off.

if you pull it out of the water the sponge will die off. if you do that make sure you get it all. it will decay and it might hurt your zoos.

So the consensus is to get rid of the sponge? Will it harm the zoos if I leave it there?

either it grows over the zoos or the zoa mat grows over it. one way or the other some 1 is going to win.

I would not let that sponge live. I had a similar sponge grow over galaxea.

its only the desirable sponges that die when you pull them out of the water. If you paid for it it will die with air contact...if its a pest it will not.

pluck it off with tweezers and scrub it with a toothbrush if you can get to it. repeat whenever seen
