has anyone seen a hood or built a hood for a 72 bowfront? looking to house t5 retro and cooling fans in the hood and would like to see one before i start a build.

I would suggest a scale drawing on graph paper to get you started.

Place the fans blowing inward at the sides or back and incorporate a vent into the top of the hood. Forced air in conjection with natural convection will keep the bulbs cool.

You may wish to opt for pairs of multiple bulb lengths to accomodate the bow.

Whatever you choose, I would take a hard look at the IceCape SLR reflectors. They are hard to beat for performance.

thank you, any suggestions on how far the lights should be for the top of the tank? can anyone make a suggestion as to a lighting supply or beananimal where can i find the SLR reflectors thanks again

reefgeek, hellolights, marinedepot, etc.

The closer the lights, the better. However, the closer the lights the more exposed the reflectors become to salt spray and corrosion/discoloration.

3"-5" appears to be a popular height.
