Hi guys,

just wondering if anyone as already made a stand out of plywood alone. It's for my new 180. If you can post some pics this would help alot. I walked around the LFS and could not see any 180 stands but the 150 they had on the floor was made out of plywood alone. Pretty cool that the plywood alone can hold all that weight.

My friend made his stand for his 125 out of plywood. He did use dowels and glue.I think he may have added some 2x4 just to be safe.I made my stand out of 2x4 and plywood.

I would have a 2x4 frame at least for that size tank.

Only need 3/4" but most feel 2x4's are best for that safe feeling. But in reality, 3/4" ply will hold that tank very easily.

I was impressed with the stand that I bought @ ebay.

You may want to check this seller out at:

http://stores.ebay.com/Aquarium-Stands-and-Canopies

The stands are made from solid wood and arrive ready to assemble. You need to stain and poly but you end up with a really sturdy stand in a finish of your choice. Pricing is impressive; I paid $425.00 delivered!

Good luck,
