Hey guys,
I had some questions about your permeate pump. Could you give me a brief run down of the pros and cons of the device. I guess I'm more familiar with the pros but I'm not sure why these pumps aren't more popular as they seem to really save water and decrease the time it takes to fill pressurized storage tanks. Also, what all do I need to install this on my existing system. It seems I will need the pump, a new ASO valve, and a new check valve? Thanks for your help.

The only reason you don't hear about them much in this hobby is that most systems used just for aquariums don't have pressure tanks.

You wouldn't need new check valve and ASOV. Please email us to request a set of instructions - be happy to send them to you.

Hey Russ,
I've looked over the instructions and read up additional info on the permeate pump set ups and I have one more question. The directions you sent me didn't show how to install the permeate pump if I will also be using an open reservoir (such as my DI canisters). I found instructions on spectrapure's webpage as well and they recommend a 4 lb checkvalve (specifically) as opposed to a 1 lb valve between the storage tank and DI resin. Do you guys carry a 4 lb check valve? The one you have listed on your website doesn't give it rating. Thanks again!

I'm checking.

We've used the valve we sent you with success for some time.

Hey Russ,
Well I finally got to installing the pump on my system. I think I got everything right because I could hear it clicking as it was making water and the ASOV turned the system off after it was done filling the storage tank. I noticed the pressure on my pressure gauge went up quite a bit. It's at 95 psi now instead of 85. I have this cheap pressure regulator on it but it didn't see to keep it from going over 85.

I set it up with the higher pressure shut off valve I got form you guys. Do you know if switching back down to my old ASOV with the permeate pump will bring the pressure back down?

The other ASOV will shut the supply water off when the line feeding the tank reaches about 66% of the incoming line pressure.

The high pressure ASOV is somewhere north of 85%
