Here is my guess-
His son has a tank with an item in it (not a soft coral, lets say a hard coral). This item is bleaching out and he wants to know what might be wrong. Wait no, I think it will be an anemone.

Shot in the dark here but I think there is something wrong with the water parameters and the anemone is spitting out zootoplankton (or what ever it is they have that colors them).

I should get a prize if I am right.
