I just recently purchased a tank with black silicone, which I love the look of. I am going to be adding some sort of overflow into the tank, most likely using black glass, and want to use black silicone.

I have found online a perfecto and an AGA black silicone. Any differences between them (other than price and brand)? Any other varieties that I should consider?

Thanks!

Yes, there are significant differences in silicone adhesives, primarily in their resistance to shear. Stick with Dow Corning 999 as it is a structural adhesive not just a sealant like many others. Also the colored versions are slightly better since more fumed silica is added to the mix to keep the pigments in suspension, it also causes slightly better adhesion to silica based products (i.e. glass).

Where do you get Dow Corning 999?

it's most likely rebranded as many other products. I would just inspect the packaging on whatever you're buying to see if it's the Dow product.
