Anyone have one of these? Are these very good skimmers?

I'm going BB on my 36g corner tank. I will have a remote DSB in the fuge. I want to skim the crap out of my system with an in sump skimmer.

Would a LifeReef Skimmer do the trick or is there something better? Max budget is about $400.

There are defientlt better skimmer for less money. I love my DAS EX1 and you can get it for about $300 shipped

You can get "better" skimmers for less money, but everything Lifereef claims about their skimmers is true. I have their 24" in-sump model on my 100gal total system, and love it. It's not the most energy efficient skimmer I've ever owned, but it skims well and is easy to maintain. On a side note, Lifereef's skimmers are the highest built quality I think I've ever seen on ANY reef-related product in my entire lifetime.

If you look around you can get one used for some reason people just don't like venturi anymore. They would rather tincker with pumps make modifications. You should give Burmuda a look set and forget I believe it has a smaller foot print.I have used every lifereef skimmer he makes they do work well. But if you don't set them up right they tend to overflow for no reason.

Would a Euro Reef RS 100 be a better skimmer than the LifeReef?? I have heard a lot of good things about these... and it is $150 cheaper than the LifeReef.

If you're considering a Euro Reef skimmer, go with the RS80 or the RS135. The 100 uses the same pump as the 80, but is physically larger. So, pretty much everyone I've heard from says the pump on it is undersized. So go RS80 or RS135 if you're wanting to go ER. Based on the size of your tank, I'd recommend the RS80 if you don't go with a Lifereef.
