I have modded the maxijet 1200's and I run 2 of them on opposite sides of my 75 gallon tank. These pumps make so much noise I am sick of them.

Do the expensive tunze pumps work with very little noise? Or the vortech pump?

I modded two 1200 for my 75g. They where so loud, even after a week of running 24/7,I took them out. put mods on 900's were a much better. I ended up going with the Seio 620's.

I have tunze and they are very quiet. I have never had a vortech but the motor is outside and I assume they are slightly louder than the tunze

hydro's are quiet. i have two hydro 4's and you wouldn't know they were running unless you looked at the prop

draleigh are you talking about the Hydor Koralia 4? If so, are those 2 enough for your 180 gallon tank alone?

Thanks

yeah i meant the koralia4's. I don't think two are enough, i also have two maxi 1200's with the hacksaw mod done to them on a wave maker, along with my returns. I am guessing i have about 3000 - 3500 GPH turn over. Food stays adrift and nothing sits on the bottom - no detruis problems my sand is nice a white. They are a little bigger then i expected, but i think they have a nice flow, nothing direct like the maxi mod

How is the sound on the koralia4 compared to the modded maxi jet? I currently run 2 modded maxijet 1200's on my 75 gallon tank and the pumps are sooo loud.

You wont even hear it run.

Dubbin1, do you have any on your 75 gallon tank? If so, how many do you run?

I have 2 K4s on my 120. I don't hear them at all. I don't have anye experience with pumps other than MJs but for bang for your bucks, noise and flow go with the K4s.

Sounds like I am sold on the koralia 4's. I plan on 2 of them for my 75 gallon tank.

Thanks
