Is this mesh mod kit really worth it, or should I take a different route?

Sicce mod kit (http://www.protein-skimmer.com/shopping.asp?id=446996&itemid=10097&ct=0&shopperid=78349&merchantid=446996&shop=itemdetail.asp)

Mine is modded by Marine Solutions (came modded with the MSX 160 skimmer). Will I see much difference using this mesh v.s. the mesh that came with my pump? Is there a cheaper/better way to go? I want my 160 to perform its best, because I'm not getting nearly as much skimmate as a lot of people who have the 160.

Vader, your not going to see any difference since your 160 can only handle 30scfh.

You can also do the same thing with some gutter guard from Lowe's or HD.

So will I see a difference on my MSX 200? I ordered the kit because I heard it recommended and it's fairly cheap, but I'm still not sure exactly what piece it's replacing and how it improves performance. I guess I'll find out for sure when I have the pump and kit in hand.

Take a different route. Why mod a good thing?? I bought a skimmer I wouldn't have to mod and it works great. Modding this pump is like altering the engine on a Ferrari.

I'm not sure with your skimmer but on my ASM G3 it made a big difference. The old impeller would make bubbles in the med to large range. after the mod ( I just used gutter guard ) it puts out a ton more bubbles and they are very fine to small bubbles, I get a bunch more gunk in my collection cup.

It replaces the impeller blades on our impeller. Do a search here on RC or Goggle and you should see some pic's of it.
