This is a really, REALLY odd question but could you use a reptile lamp for a 5 gal QT tank? We have about 20 of them lying around and it was just a thought that popped up into my head.

Becareful, aren't those lights made to heat the reptile area?
Might raise the tank temp too much!

Not the flouro bulbs they are to be used as UV lights not heat lights there are separete lights for heat. We have a Bearded Dragon and the lights for the UV for the dragon are very much the same as a daylight bulb for our tank.
