ID Please.

I finally found the charger for my camera and this guy felt like saying hi.

Is it a G. glabrous? Colors sound right and I'm in Aus so that seems right but I'd say one of them was definitely bigger than 80mm (I have another the same) I have to pull this one out of the quarantine tank soon so I'll see how I go measuring it.

Yeah, my first guess would be a female G. glabrous. Any shots of the body and telson? There are other stomatopods in Australian waters with orange meral spots that get a bit larger than the glabrous, but I think the 80 mm is only meant as a general guidline, not a definitive maximum.

More likely this is G. graphurus, the more common in shore Gonodactylaceus species in Australia. The largest G. glabrous reported was 80 mm. G. graphurus gets a bit bigger up to 90 mm. The presence of a median caranule on the sixth abdominal tergite is diagnostic. (See Roy's List).

I got this though. If you look closely you'll see the circle around what I think is a median caranule.

I've fed it a lot to try and get photos and he's (Is it a he?) full right now so won't come out to get a real good look.
