I got a yellow tang a couple of days ago but he doesn't want to eat anything I put on the clip ( seaweed ).
He has been eating the formula 2 flakes ( Herb flakes ) just fine. He even has taken a bite or 2 from the shrimp I put in the tank for my other fishes.
I left some on the clip all day and all night ( not the same piece :p ) but he has not touched it.
Should I just keep doing it and maybe he will catch on?
Should I place it lower in the tank?
Or should I try something else like lettuce?
Thankx a ton

It could take a while. My sailfin took about a week or so. Does he still eat other food? You should not be concerned if he does. Now I get all my fish to eat from my had. In fact when I do maintence in the tank they follow my hand like they are attached to a string. Be patient.

Yeah, he has been eating formula 2 flakes. So it isn't an emergency, just more of a concern.
2 for be patient > lesson.... wait it out :)
Question: Do I need to be avid about pulling out any clumps that break off in the tank ( Like I would a meat product )?

Sometimes I break up the formula one, sometimes I just thaw it and throw it in. The binder in the food softens enough that the fish can easily tear it. Fish can bite pretty hard. Just ask my arm...LOL

Sorry, I ment the seaweed. If some of the seaweed from my clip breaks of and floats around do I need to yank it or is it ok to just leave it?

another idea is taking small pieces of seaweed and shoving them into some crevices in rocks for him to graze on and pick at and soon he'll realize the thing in the clip and the thing in the rocks are the same thing!

Oh no, you can keep the seaweed whole. I never had luck getting the seaweed to stay on the rocks, but that is another good idea.

I rubber band the nori to a rock and then push it into the holes in my rockwork. After a week or so, you can drop the rock with the rubber banded nori into the sandbed. After a bit more time, they'll realize the clip has food on it. They don't recognize it as food right away on the clip and need some help sometimes.
