I introduced this guy yesterday and he was doing fine after acclimation. I had put him up on rocks and he fell over (or was knocked over) and I found him upside down in the sand. I righted hime and today he is not opening.

today i only had the MH for a couple of hours to decrease his stress, but the compact fluorescents have been on for like 6 hours.

what are his chances?

sigh

I'm not an expert, but had a jumping and wandering baby Maxima.

If this is Tridacna maxima, what I would do:
- remove it from the sand,
- place it on a half of shell or other protective surface,
- place clam on shell on well lit place at the bottom (nowhere to fall), away from the flow, oriented across the weak flow,
- watch, that no sand or other particles were blown in its direction.

Clam should attach itself to the support in hours, after that you may move it in designated place - sideways in relation to the flow. At least mine do not like the flow and have own opinion about everything (have two of them).

Watch for ammonia in the tank, fast drops of alkalinity, additives should be dissolved and dripped in high flow (sorry for assumption, but, for example, Reef Builder dissolves worse, than Reef Buffer, extra care needed).

If this is a baby clam, some feeding will be necessary.

Another thought: check the clam's base for parasites, snails, bristle worms.

Good luck! They are beautiful creatures.

This was a place, where my clams feel good (flow is aside of them):
