i have all my powerheads buried in the rock work to hide them as much as possible....ive noticed i have not seen any tanks with the powerheads like this, i see alot of magnets and hob applications. flow coming out of the rocks is usually from a closed loop, from what i have seen. is it a bad idea to put the powerheads in the rockwork because fish/inverts will get sucked in?

The fish will be fine, and most invertebrates will be okay if the usual strainer is on the powerhead. Some animals, such as anemones and sea hares, can be killed by powerheads, though. Other than that, putting the powerheads in the rock should be okay.

I did not place mine behind the rock as you will need to perform maintenance and eventually have to replace them. If they are in places where you can get them out easily then you will have some trouble down the road. If you can access them easily then behind the rocks is fine as long as they do not create dead spots in your tank. Good Luck.
