I have a question regarding plumbing the return line on my mag 7. As you know, the output is 1/2". What I was wondering was if there was a good reason to step this up to 1" with a PVC adapter. My thought is that there will be less resistence to the outflow. Is there any reason this would not be a good idea? Or other reasons that this WOULD be a good idea?

I don't have a bulkhead just PVC hanging over the back of the tank.

i don't think going up in size will help you.

Yes running larger piping will help. If you read the manufacturer's recommendation on the box they say to use larger diameter piping for maximum flow. On the mag 9.5 I have they recommend 1 1/2 in. inner diameter piping for max flow which is what I am running now. I had 3/4 in before and moving up made a huge difference...

I use 1" pipe on my mag 7 also, if you play around with the head loss calc. on the home page you see their is a huge difference between 1/2" pipe and 1" pipe.
