Well I am planning on ordering some Salifert testing solutions because I have heard they are very reliable? anyway which ones should I purchase for a reef aquarium( I noticed there were a lot... some I didn't even recognize so i figured I'd ask)

The basics are calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, and pH. Phosphate and nitrate can be useful for trouble-shooting, in some cases, and an ammonia test kit is useful when disaster strikes. This article might help:
