View Full Version : T5 rainbow effect when looking from the side?

I want to buy the 48” ATI Powermodule 8x54w T5 light fixture but I am afraid how that would look when viewing the tank from the end.

I am building a 3sided peninsula style tank.

Another lighting option would be 48" Giesemann Infiniti 2x250w MH + 4x54w T5

It depends on how close to the water the bulbs are. Mine are around 5-6 inches over the surface and I can't see any banding even though I have a 20K bulb in between two 15K bulbs. When I had the bulbs 2" above the water I had a visible band of blue in the middle.

I have a 6 bulb T5 setup, and the only way I notice the different light colors is looking up at the bulbs themselves from the end. The colors blend together pretty well below the bulbs.
