A regular timer will be sufficient. if you want to get technical, coralife
makes a timer, and more technical JBJ and Aquarium Systems make
timers which is really for power heads but have a on off cycle period
of as less as 20 seconds . But just to turn your lights on and off for
longer periods at a time. Brinks makes just standard timers with as
low as 15 minute intervals. When my wife and I went on our honeymoon to Lake Tahoe last year, had my lights on a small brinks
timer, and worked fine. Hope this helps

Until I got my ACjr to control my light I used the "cheep ones" at Lowe's.

They work great and no there not water prof, but they should never be around water anyway.

Here's pic of what I has.

Might be worth a quick google search for Coralife Fire Timer. It's crazy that these things are still available.

Plain old timers are fine for lights. I mean, none are waterproof! Don't need to spend more than $8 each. Plus, those Coralife timers aren't supposed to be very reliable, fires or not.
