Melev bulb not working well with cheato

I setup a fuge in my sump about 3 months ago with Melev's bulb and a ball of cheato. I keep it in a reverse photo period of 12 hours and even though the cheato looks healthy, it's not growing. I tried getting the bulb closer to the water surface but that didn't help, I also tried leaving it on 24/7 without success.

Is there any other bulb that can try?

Maybe your skimmer keeps the tank clean? What type of bio-load do you have? Also listing your specific parameters would be helpful. I doubt it's the bulb many many people use them, I personally do and get unreal growth.

How much flow do you have going through it? Got a pic of it in your setup? Worth a thousand words :D

same here. when I switched from a normal spiral bulb to the melev design, I can finally see growth on my cheato.
