View Full Version : Tuning my skimmer

I've got an aquamedic T-1000 skimmer (this one: http://www.aqua-medic.com/t1000.shtml), hooked up to a Rio2100 pump and I want to make sure I'm running it right.

The way it is now, there is a loose hose connection from my overflow to the skimmer in the sump. This keeps the flow level out of the skimmer at roughly half the diameter of the output tubes. Note that the picture on the website I supplied shows the 90 degree pieces attached, I'm not using those.

This is the right way to do it? I have the pieces that you can put in to limit flow, and I can increase flow by making a tighter connection between the overflow and the skimmer. Am I ok where I am now, or do I need to change things?

Thanks

That will work fine they way you have it setup.

One thought about the current arrangement is that almost everything that goes into the sump goes through the skimmer, which means any 'pods or other smaller critters get pureed. Is this the way most people do things?
